Actually honey is slightly sweeter than sugar. However, 1 teaspoon of honey has 21 calories, compared to 16 calories in 1 teaspoon of sugar. So from calorie standpoint, there is no net calorie advantage.

Honey is 82% of fructose and glucose & has 310 Cal. Sugar is 99% of fructose & glucose and has 360 Cal. Both have hight glycemic index causing spikes in blood sugar levels and in hight consumption can lead to obesity and fatty liver.

SHOULD BE CONSUMED IN MODERATION (1-2 teaspoon a day).
