Is it true that you can’t gain muscle without gaining fat?
If you’re in a building phase and eating in a calorie surplus, you need to accept the fact that fat will increase during this phase.
However, you do not have to eat in a calorie surplus to build muscle, meaning that you CAN gain muscle without gaining fat.
So how do you do this? Generally speaking, you set your calorie intake to maintenance calories and lift weights with a focus on progressive overload.
Fab, but what’s the drawback?
In a nutshell, by taking this approach, it will mean far slower rates of muscle gain than if you were eating in a small surplus.. but that’s the trade off you pay for staying leaner.
