Premier protein is popular because it’s low sugar & high in protein. But there are several ingredients to be aware of. If you notice... even though the bottle only has 1 gram of sugar it’s still sweet. ( 🚩)
That’s because of an additive called acesulfame- k which is a sweetener considered 200x sweeter than sugar.
Acesulfame is also in some baked foods, energy drinks, yogurts and soda. (Not all)
It interferes with thyroid functioning. Poor thyroid function is correlated with poor weight loss, low energy & hormone imbalance.
***Over exposure can cause hypothyroidism***
Premier proteins’ version of Vitamin B12 is synthetic - It’s called Cyanocobalamin. Once it is broken down it turns into CYANIDE, which is a poison.
That’s why it is called CYANOcobalamin. Real Vitamin B12 is Cobalamin. Read your labels!
What Is A Better Option?
A better option would be a grass fed whey protein if you can tolerate dairy! If you have never tried grass fed whey this will give you an extra boost you've never had. I personally use Levels grass fed whey from amazon. I get the pure chocolate kind but the flavor is up to you! It's 24g of protein per serving and has more nutrients than a regular cow would!
It easily mixes in water or milk with no clumps. Also, compare the ingredients. The protein powder I am recommending only has 6 ingredients compared to about 40 for premier protein. I use this everyday, even if I do not workout.
Conclusion
Premier protein has too many red flags in its ingredient list and far too many ingredients. I would give premier protein a 6.5/10. Most of the points I am giving it is because it is affordable, convenient and good amount of protein.
However, in regards of quality, nutrients, bioavailable nutrients and amino acids Levels protein is literally "levels" better.
