AI at The Real Dietitian

Thursday, August 20, 2026

"Artificial Intelligence" is a fast moving technology that has varied applications in healthcare, some of which are very exciting but can also cause concern, therefore I wish to make it clear how I use AI in my practice.

Clinical notes and dictation: During or after our consultations, I use Heidi Health, a dictation and note-writing tool designed specifically for clinicians. It helps me listen more and type less, so I can stay present with you in our session while still producing accurate, thorough clinical notes afterwards.

Please be reassured that the only system in my practice that ever handles identifiable patient data through AI is Heidi Health which is built for healthcare use, with clinical-grade privacy and security standards.

Behind-the-scenes: Like most modern businesses, some of the everyday platforms I use have built in AI features; including Squarespace (my website - currently under reveiw), Nutrium (my nutrition and meal-planning software), and Google Workspace (email, diary and documents). These help with things like website design suggestions. These are used minimally and are never used to store, process, or generate anything containing your personal health information.

I take my professional and ethical obligations around confidentiality seriously, and I choose the tools I work with accordingly. If you ever have questions about how your information is stored, used, or protected, I'm always happy to talk it through with you.

Achieve your goals with a follow-up that suits you!
